Facebook and LinkedIn scammers

A few days ago got an email from Facebook saying....

And yesterday another email from LinkedIn saying....

Any average person will panic on the first one and wonder on the second one. Both emails looked pretty genuine from the onset. I can tell you I clicked the link on the first one, jumping into panic mode then abandon before it can load and straightway run virus scan and delete all temporary files. But it could be luck that this is an identity thef email rather than virus infecting. Anyway to be safe, I even changed my facebook password.

The second one tipped me off right away because my LinkedIn account was not link to this email. I have a different email. So it pays to spread your stuff around. I have at least 5 email accounts for different usages.

To double checked this, I also hover my mouse on the sender and check the email address. As suspected, they have gibberish domain. Thus I immediately deleted both emails. Then it occurred to me, average users like you who is reading my blogs might be susceptible as well.

Thus be very careful with such emails and you would want to read these 2 websites on suspicious emails handling for Facebook and LinkedIn . They even contain instructions on how to report such scams to them which I already did.

Be aware, scammers are everywhere and these operated on a higher intellectual level than my dating scammer. Remember the Doc? Social networking websites are the worst. Surf Smart.
